AbulEdu, what is it ?

This page lists the main features of AbulEdu.
First of all you must know that this project was born within the association ABUL on November 21, 1998 following an email from Jean Peyratout requesting a helping hand to “equip his school” ….
Since the specification was developed and improved.

Putting computers into the children's hands

This is really the most important point, then came a large part of the constraints taken into account for this project:

  • Putting computers in ” the back of a class” for students to have access to search like a dictionary, an encyclopaedia or a book (the computer is a tool);
  • Getting possibly a low cost computer room (the equipment must be available in sufficient quantity for working with a complete group of pupils);
  • Allowing the deployment of many machines without having to secure all the building (materials without value);
  • Accessing documents and software from any computer in the school (I start a text on computer A and I can finish it on computer B, C or D wherever they are in the school);
  • Having an environment and software tools to users including free software and open relevant. (attribution of default profile without installation);
  • Avoiding that computers are out of service due to an error handling (intentionally or not) of a user (the teacher is not there to install computers every 3 days);
  • Finding a solution to resist the virus;
  • Preventing minors from being face to violence, racism, pornography or other things (filter what comes from the Internet);
  • Sharing files with other users ;
  • Sharing resources (printer, Internet connection, virtual tour CD) with other users on the network;
  • Being able to publish documents on the internal website of the company (intranet).

Simplify life for users

AbulEdu'users are not programmers. The tool must adapt to their needs and levels of heterogeneous skills in the use of ICT:

  • Softwares are preinstalled and correspond to a the different needs of users, they are accompanied by educational materials;
  • Each user has a work space partitioned (a binder mail). This space can only be broken by the user at any time it cannot break the space of another user, even less the global system;
  • If a user breaks his “electronic binder” it is very easy to fix it by restoring profiles;
  • It is very easy to publish resources on the intranet site of the server, or shared folder;
  • Documents stored on the server AbulEdu could be accessed from anywhere using your username and password, including from the Internet if the school is equipped with a connection;
  • System allows to centralize data for each user (files belonging to a group, exercises for a student or group) and their assessments of use of educational software;
  • Users of a network AbulEdu can exchange simply by using their email address as username.

Delegate administration

One or more persons can be administrator of the server. AbulEdu is made for structure where there is no professional system administrator.

  • hardware configuration and administration of the system from a browser;
  • possibility of using existing equipment, managing a diverse fleet of machines at both hardware and software;
  • automatic creation of the environment of any new software and user data (import a list of users from database);
  • access to resources vary according to the category of user;
  • opportunity to recycle old PCs within their technical capabilities;
  • insensitivity of viruses to the network server of the institution;
  • filtering and firewall for internet connection ;
  • possibility of administering a remote server AbulEdu.

Put a tool available to validate the B2i

When Brevet Informatique et Internet (B2i) was created in France we are immediately able to verify that all the using of AbulEdu validate each item in this patent.
Your structure is equipped with a AbulEdu? You can now acquire the skills listed in B2i your students!
We also offer you a booklet B2i to give you lines of work.

Now that you know the features of AbulÉdu you can discover the technical plan of a network AbulEdu.
